Recipient of the George C. and Nita S. Roughgarden Scholarship

Saint Leo University is an open door leading to endless possibilities. I strongly believe my attendance at Saint Leo has been a beneficial experience for me as a student, as well as an individual. I have grown confident and become a stronger leader through my resident assistant position, and other extracurricular activities, such as the Psychology Club and Psi Chi (a psychology honor society). These opportunities and more are waiting for me and my peers. I can’t wait to see what other doors this university will help open!

Upon graduation from Saint Leo, I plan to continue my education at a higher level. For now, the plan is to apply to grad school and specialize in behavioral neuroscience. This is a field in which I believe I will be able to make a positive impact on many people’s lives. I have done a bit of research and I plan on attending graduate school in California. My main goal is to apply for a doctoral program and finish off my studies as soon as possible. My experience here has pushed me beyond my comfort zone and has enabled me to grow in mind and spirit.

The George C. and Nita S. Roughgarden Scholarship means more to me than just monetary support. At Saint Leo, we honor six core values, and this scholarship is a representation of the communal aspect shared at this school. As part of the Saint Leo student body, it is encouraging to see the help provided by those who are gracious enough to donate scholarship funds. If I could meet my scholarship donors, I would thank them for extending this feeling of community. It makes me feel as if I am truly a part of a family here. I have been blessed with so many opportunities, and receiving this scholarship is another blessing being showered upon me.
