The Leo Alumni in Residence (LAIR) program provides personalized support to students by connecting them with experienced mentors who offer guidance in various aspects, including informational interviews, mock interviews, resume assistance, and addressing career or industry-related inquiries.

  Luckson Abraham ’16

Luckson Abraham is a South Florida native, born in Miami, FL, and raised in Homestead, FL. As a first-generation American, the sacrifices his parents made to build a life here has always fueled his hardworking attitude and drive for success. While attending Saint Leo University, Luckson earned the Outstanding Freshman Award and The John I. Leonard General Excellence Award, founded a chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America- Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) on campus, served as 2015-16 student body president and was a member of several student organizations including Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honors Society, Pride Consulting, American Marketing Association, Black Student Union, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

Since graduating from Saint Leo, Luckson has kept the university’s values at the core of his real estate business, infusing his career with his servant leadership, marketing creativity, diligence, and tenacity.

  Kendall Brutus ’15 17

Kendall Brutus’ passion is learning and gaining new knowledge, experience, and skills such as the agile method using the Jira software which provides the Kanban/Scrum boards framework.

Currently, as a managing partner of Wellness Spa Center in Brandon, FL, Kendall facilitates and participates in collaborative working sessions with my business partners and customer stakeholders. Previously as a wellness consultant, he provided wellness treatments to clients in a spa/clinical setting. He discussed with clients the modalities of treatment that would be used, demonstrated techniques for postural improvement and stretching, strengthening, relaxation, and rehabilitative exercises. He administered treatments for chiropractic patients after consulting with on-site physician.

  Tom Coughlin ’04

Tom Coughlin is a member of Saint Leo’s Alumni Association Board of Directors, and is the chief of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Modernization at the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) in Tampa, FL. He is an accomplished, versatile executive with repeated success guiding multinational, cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of innovative strategies to drive organizational success. Tom is retired from the U.S. Army and has been a government employee for more than 21 years, serving in a wide range of assignments and positions ranging from senior enlisted advisor to the 5th Special Forces commander, to the Chief Information Officer and Chief Knowledge Officer for Intelligence at USSOCOM on MacDill Air Force Base.

He is developing sensor systems that incorporate a wide range of technological advancements to include artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), along with three-dimensional modeling systems from synthetic data. Tom earned his MBA from Saint Leo in 2004 and lives in Land O’ Lakes, FL, not too far from University Campus.

  Andre Curry ’09 13

Andre Curry is a passionate health solutions professional, who is driven by his desire to learn and to care for others. He recently was promoted to the field marketing department at Florida Blue, where he works as a part of a team that executes events and provides resources to the community. Andre is a double graduate of Saint Leo University, who went on to receive his nursing degree from Hillsborough Community College, where he returns to assist current nursing students in fulfilling their degree requirements.

As a multistate registered nurse and certified health coach, Andre devotes much of his time to educating members of the community through outreach and wellness programs and assisting with breaking down health barriers and disparities. He continues to work in the Emergency Department comforting patients in their time of need and giving hope and instruction to promote positive outcomes. Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Andre is a leader who advocates for his team members and patients, mentors and supports others, and inspires excellence. He is committed to achievement and contributing to the growth and development of communities around him.

  Kevin Dunn ’18

Kevin Dunn serves on the board of the Saint Leo University Alumni Association, and attended Saint Leo College in the early 1970s. He graduated with a degree in psychology in 2018. In the late 1970s, he became a systems engineer working on early IBM mainframes. In the 1980s, he attained a corporation director level position with Westinghouse Corp., and remained with the company until the CBS acquisition. In the late 1990s, Kevin was engaged by Aon Corp. as a director of operations, managing four international data centers. He retired at age 55 as a CIO of his division.

Kevin decided his work life was not over and started a project management business. He was fortunate in obtaining the confidence of Barclay’s to lead its data center management efforts when they acquired the Lehman Brothers assets. Kevin also serves as a volunteer, most recently as president of the Fells Cove Homeowners Association.

  Sarah Gates ’01

Sarah Gates is a high school educator and college professor of education. During her time at Saint Leo, she was a resident assistant, member of the cross country team and Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, and Student Government Union president. After graduating from Saint Leo, she worked in Student Affairs as the director for Marmion-Snyder Hall and in leadership development while she was pursuing her master’s degree. Sarah has been a high school educator at a Catholic, college preparatory high school for the past 19 years. She teaches Advanced Placement research and world religions to seniors. She also teaches introduction to education and behavior in educational organizations for online college students.

She facilitates the new teacher mentoring program, serves on the peer-to-peer teach evaluation mentoring team, and is the school accreditation chair, game administrator, club advisor, and girls weightlifting coach. Her husband also is in education and serves as an assistant principal.

  Gary Gustafson ’07

Gary Gustafson ’07, currently serves as the past president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. He graduated from Saint Leo with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and from the American Military University with a master’s degree in public administration. He serves as the administrative and legal officer for Marine Corps Intelligence Schools in Virginia Beach, VA. Gary is a career Marine, as he began serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in November 1985 and retired from active duty June 2010. Prior to his current assignment, he served as administrative chief with several different units throughout the Marine Corps in and outside of the United States.

  Erin Head ’11

Erin Head, who earned her MBA from Saint Leo, is a thought leader on information governance (IG) and health information management (HIM). She came to Iron Mountain® in 2020 as a senior health care consultant following a successful career for more than 15 years in health information management, coding, medical staff credentialing, and quality resource management leadership in hospitals and physician office settings. Erin is an accomplished international speaker, blogger, and award winning author on topics including but not limited to health care information governance, health data analytics, health care technology, revenue cycle management, coding and covered defense information (CDI), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security.

  Sherman Milton lll ’13

Sherman Milton III is a local real estate professional in the Tampa-area and owner of a residential cleaning company. His experience ranges from the corporate world to the nonprofit sector. He serves as president of the Bay Area Association of Realtist, a state director at Florida Realtors, board chair for the Lacoochee Boys and Girls Clubs Advisory Board, and participates in many other organizations.

  Bobrenti (Brent) Patterson ’11

Bobrenti (Brent) Patterson serves as the rehab supervisor for the TriVent Healthcare at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital (UAB), and has been featured by ESPN, FOX Sports, CNN, and local and national news outlets for his contributions to many miraculous recovery stories of the patients on the Special Care Unit. Brent studied health care management at UAB, then earned an associate of advance science and a physical therapist assistant degree and license from Bishop State College in Mobile, AL. He graduated summa cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in liberal studies/religion from Saint Leo in 2011. He is a member of Saint Leo’s Omega Nu Lambda honor society, was awarded the 2021 Roaring Onward Award by the Saint Leo University Alumni Association, and was spotlighted in 2023 in the university’s celebration of Black History Month.

Brent worked at St. Vincent’s East Hospital for 15 years, serving as Acute Care Team leader/manager, and he started the hospital’s first facility-wide Bible study, “Daily Bread.” He was named the hospitals employee of the month for his heroic action of catching a visitor in mid-air after she slipped on water on the floor. He also was named Patient Care Hero of 2021 for the UAB Hospital for his excellence in patient care and holistic service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  Jason Remmel ’04

Jason Remmel ’04 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and marketing and is an award-winning sales executive and regional trainer in the medical tech industry. Jason resides in Jacksonville, FL. He is newly married and has two beautiful daughters, 9 and 13, along with a dog and cat, who complete their perfectly blended family. When not working, his interests include coaching his daughter’s soccer team, participating in philanthropy, hunting, attending concerts and sporting events, dining at restaurants, taking part in fitness activities, and traveling the world. Puerto Rico has become the Remmel family’s second home! Jason also serves as a member on Saint Leo University's Alumni Board of Directors. 

  Kenrick Roberts ’07

Kenrick Roberts pursued a graduate degree in higher education administration at Nova Southeastern University, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, following his graduation from Saint Leo in 2007. In 2009, he moved to Washington, D.C. and worked in Residence Life at The Catholic University of America. He later accepted a position at the Georgetown University Law Center, where he remained employed while attending law school.

After graduating cum laude from the University of the District of Columbia’s David A. Clarke School of Law and being admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2016, Kenrick served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Matthew A. Maciarello. He now works as a trial attorney at a mid-sized Maryland law firm, where he litigates cases before the Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission as well as in the circuit and appellate courts in Maryland. He has been recognized consecutively as a Maryland Rising Star by Super Lawyers, nominated to Lawyers of Distinction, and invited to the National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 - Maryland.

  George Root ’01

George Root is an attorney in the Tampa office of Stockham Law Group P.A. He focuses his practice on providing general counsel and litigation services for community associations throughout Florida. His services as general counsel include deed restriction violation enforcement, delinquent assessment collection, compliance, preservation, revitalization, and interpretation of governing documents, risk management, litigation, creditor bankruptcy services, board meeting attendance, board certification courses, and a myriad of other community association legal needs.

Prior to joining the Stockham Law Group, George worked for more than 10 years providing general counsel services to community associations in Florida. He is actively involved in several chapters of the Community Association Institute. George spends time developing and teaching board certification courses for community associations and continuing education units for property managers.

  Michael Salazar ’87

Michael Salazar earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Saint Leo University and earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern College of Law. In 1991, he founded The Salazar Law firm, which has provided exceptional legal assistance for criminal defense and injury cases. Not only has Michael handled thousands of criminal cases, he also has negotiated and secured millions of dollars in settlements on behalf of injured South Florida clients. Whether you are arrested or injured, Michael and his staff are there to help. If you have been arrested, accused of a crime, charged with a crime, threatened with any criminal prosecution, or have been injured as a result of an accident, the Salazar Law Firm is able to assist. Michael is in court on a daily basis, fighting for the rights of all his clients.

  Alexis Watson ’16 ’17

Alexis Watson is an experienced human resources and recruitment partner in various industries. Alexis is skilled in talent sourcing, talent operations, human capital management, human resources functionality, DEI (diversity, equality, and inclusion), and leadership. She exemplifies a strong focus on education and is an assistant vice president, senior recruiter at Citi. Alexis holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a double minor in leadership and human resource management and a Master of Business Administration focused on human resource management from Saint Leo University.
