Recap of Alumni Weekend 2026
Saint Leo alumni returned to campus March 6–8 for Alumni Weekend 2026, celebrating faith, traditions, and the lifelong friendships that unite us – always.
The weekend kicked off with the Second Annual Alumni Association Golf Outing at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. Alumni from near and far came together for a day on the greens, making memories and enjoying the friendly competition.
The fun continued on Friday at the alumni baseball tailgate and game, the first-ever SGU alumni networking reception, and the 50th reunion celebration, where the Class of 1976 marked a golden milestone. The day culminated with a rockin’ party at the Wellness Center for the Taste of Saint Leo, featuring local flavors and live music from American Idol finalist Zachariah Smith.
On Saturday morning, Dr. Jim Burkee welcomed our alumni home at the Breakfast with the President, sharing reflections on Saint Leo’s past and future. We also celebrated the 2025 Alumni Award recipients.
At the start of Saturday’s men’s lacrosse game, the stadium’s new name was revealed as the Jody Luihn Family Stadium, honoring alumnus Jody Luihn ’83 and his family. Alumni also had a chance to participate in the women’s alumni volleyball game, and cheer on men’s tennis, baseball, and women’s beach volleyball.
Our alumni kept the energy going Saturday afternoon at the Lions Fest Pool Party, featuring live music from Matt Capps poolside at the Wellness Center. The day wrapped up with a lively Greek Night reception, a perfect reminder that the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood are always with us.
Alumni Weekend 2026 concluded Sunday with a Mass of Remembrance honoring the Class of 1976, the Saint Leo community, and the memory of Norm Kaye, followed by a farewell brunch to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate the enduring spirit of Saint Leo University.
