Alumni Association Board of Directors

The Saint Leo Alumni Board provides opportunities for enthusiastic alumni to become more engaged with the university and serve its needs.  The board supports the mission and strategic goals of the office of Alumni Engagement and Sustained Giving by leveraging networks and promoting engagement opportunities.

Members agree to serve one (1), three-year (3-year) term, with the option of applying to serve a second three-year (3-year) term.  Members will be required to travel a minimum of three (3) times per year to attend board meetings, usually to University Campus, in Saint Leo, Florida.  Members will have the option to participate, via video conference, for one meeting a year.  Meetings are typically held in July, November, and April. Members commit to serve on at least one board committee, which will be determined annually at the July meeting. Members will be expected to participate in conference calls, which will be determined on an “as needed” basis.

Each member must understand the importance of philanthropy and agrees to financially support the university annually, as well as be engaged and willing to provide overall support with engagement opportunities.

Members of the Alumni Board of Directors are expected to:

  • Foster and maintain links between the alumni community and Saint Leo University while promoting awareness of the alumni association
  • Enjoy the alumni experience and talk openly and positively about Saint Leo University to the alumni community
  • Engage with other alumni in their area, seeking feedback on their alumni experience and learning about their continued needs.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the university, promoting Saint Leo to the public and improving knowledge among alumni about today’s Saint Leo.
  • Be informed of and attend alumni programs and activities and encourage attendance and/or participation from fellow alumni.   
  • Identify, cultivate, and recruit alumni in coordination with the Office of Alumni Engagement & Sustained Giving to support areas such as student recruitment, mentoring, events, financial support, and more
  • Attend tri-annual meetings at the university and make an annual financial contribution to the university
  • Demonstrate good judgment; act in the university’s best interests
  • Exemplify a strong commitment to Saint Leo University and its mission.

Nominees should demonstrate active involvement as an alumna/us in alumni activities (such as chapter, athletic, or regional events) or in the advancement of Saint Leo University. Peter Crover ’72

President

Peter Crover ’72, currently serves in the role of president on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Peter graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. He was born and raised in New York and now resides in Houston, Texas. His career has included leadership roles in sales, marketing, and product development for the home furnishings industry, taking him to many interesting spots around the world. Husband and father of three, he feels that it is his great pleasure to be involved with the magic and spirit of his beloved Saint Leo.

 

Nieta Scott-Dunmore ’00

President-elect

Nieta Scott-Dunmore ’00, currently serves as president-elect of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is a retired senior Federal Service civilian. She served in many roles during her 43 years of service, including Department of Defense (DoD) organizational development and designer, resource and financial manager/comptroller, manpower analyst, strategic planner, and risk manager. Nieta is a university and college associate adjunct professor.

 

David LeBlanc ’14

Treasurer

David J. LeBlanc ’14, serves as treasurer of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. He resides in Long Island, New York. He graduated with a double major in political science and criminal justice, with a specialization in homeland security, from Saint Leo University. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University in May 2022. Currently, he is a Investment Portfolio Coordinator at Total Administrative Services Corporation (TASC).

 

Maureen Wickert ’77, ’99

Secretary

Maureen McGeehan Wickert ’77, ’99,currently serves in the role of secretary on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is a double alumna of Saint Leo University. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. Wickert is a retired school administrator, residing in Spring Hill, Florida and is proud to be serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

 

Gary Gustafson ’07

Past President

Gary Gustafson ’07, graduated from Saint Leo with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and from the American Military University with a master’s degree in public administration. He currently serves as the administrative and legal officer for Marine Corps Intelligence Schools in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Gary is a career marine, as he began serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in November 1985 and retired from active duty June 2010. Prior to his current assignment, he served as administrative chief with several different units throughout the Marines – in and outside of the United States.

Fr. Lucius ’18 ’19

Fr. Lucius Amarillas, O.S.B. ’18, ’19, is a monk and priest of the Order of Saint Benedict at Saint Leo Abbey. He was born in California and grew up in Las Vegas, NV. After studying at Saint Leo University, he joined the Benedictine monastery on campus where he currently serves as the prior. He also is an adjunct professor of theology at Saint Leo University.

 

Billy Ash ’11

Billy Ash '11 is a digital marketing visionary, the chief digital officer and owner of Today's Business, and the founder of Upper Edge Sport Agency and Undrafted Ventures. After graduating from Saint Leo with a bachelor’s degree in business management, he started a thriving digital marketing agency from his basement. His agency has delivered exceptional results for renowned brands like Netflix and The Cleveland Cavaliers, and spearheaded Kylie Jenner's first influencer brand campaign. Ash has been recognized for his accomplishments, which include being named to the NJ Ad Club’s 40 Under 40 list.

 

Bill Baker ’68

William (Bill) Baker ’68, graduated from Saint Leo College and is a retired U.S. Army Captain and a Purple Heart recipient. Bill has dedicated 40 years of his life to Federal Service, serving the U.S. Department of the Navy in Army base operations management. Among other things, Bill currently is active in non-profit organizations and he is passionate about serving his community.

 

Rodney Brown ’10 ’13

Rodney Brown ’10, ’13, is currently the senior vice president and chief supply chain officer for HAVI, a global provider of supply chain solutions. He is a veteran of the U.S Army, a member of the board of directors for Saint Leo University Alumni Association, a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and he also serves on the development committee for Ronald McDonald House Charities, Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Rodney holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Saint Leo University and completed Cornell University’s executive development program in business strategy.

 

Thomas Coughlin ’04

Tom Coughlin ’04, is the current chief of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Modernization at U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). He has over 40 years of government service as a retired U.S. Army soldier and current government civilian. He has held various positions ranging from senior ISR requirements manager to chief information officer/chief knowledge officer for intelligence to his current position at USSOCOM. He obtained his MBA at Saint Leo University and has achieved many accolades. Tom currently resides in Land O Lakes, FL and is an active member of his community at Lakeshore Ranch.

 

Antonio Cruz ’18 ’20

Antonio Cruz ’18 ’20 is a double alumnus and current doctoral candidate at Saint Leo University. He holds a bachelor's and master’s degree in business administration from the university. Today he serves as district manager for The TJX Companies Inc and leads 11 stores in the Miami/Key West, FL, market for the TJ Maxx division. He has been with the company for 17 years. Antonio has served as chair for Saint Leo’s Virtual Alumni Chapter for the last three years and has served in other chapter leadership roles for the last five years. He also is a Saint Leo University 2019 Roaring Onward Award recipient.

 

Marion Dailey ’68

Marion Dailey ’68 currently serves as secretary of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. She graduated from Saint Leo University with a bachelor’s degree and went on to have a very successful career in education, which she attributes to her time at Saint Leo. She feels that serving the Alumni Association is a privilege and a way to give back in a small way for what Saint Leo has meant in her life.

 

Kevin Dunn ’18

Kevin Dunn ’18, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and was a member of Sigma Beta fraternity. He pursued a career in information technology as a systems engineer and operating systems programmer. Kevin worked for Computer Sciences Corporation and later became director of technical services for a division of Westinghouse Corporation. He retired as chief information officer from Aon Corporation in 2009 and then rejoined the workforce by founding his own project management company, managing data center projects for large managed services firms. Kevin is the father of three children and grandfather to four amazing individuals.

 

Erin Head ’11

Erin Head ’11, MBA, RHIA, CHDA, CCS, CHTS-TR is an accomplished health information management (HIM) professional with over 17 years of experience in healthcare. Erin received a bachelor’s degree in health information administration from the University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree in business administration from Saint Leo University.

 

Michael Hughes ’97

Dr. Michael Louis Hughes ’97, is a retired senior non-commissioned officer (NCO) of the United States Army with more than 20 years of active military service. Dr. Hughes is married with three children and six grandchildren, and is thrilled to serve on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

 

Florence Liverano ’18 ’21

Florence Liverano ’18, ’21, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master of Science in criminal justice. Florence currently works with the State of Florida as a risk-based underwriter and is thrilled to serve on the Alumni Association Board of Directors in an effort to give back to her beloved alma mater.

 

Jeff McCarthy ’71

Jeff McCarthy ’71 is a graduate of Saint Leo College and is a longstanding member of Sigma Beta fraternity. He is retired and lives with his wife, Barbara, on the east end of Long Island. He enjoys his kids, his six grandchildren, and playing golf! Jeff is also a winter resident in Osprey, Florida.

 

Allison Newlon ’92

Allison Newlon ’92, is the owner of a boutique real estate firm, that specializes in using modern marketing for home sellers and finding home buyers in the greater Tampa Bay and West Central Florida areas. She loves spending time with her four almost-grown children and her dogs, and enjoys the Florida life!

 

Annie Patterson ’22

Annie Patterson ’22 earned a master’s degree in business administration from Saint Leo after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Tampa. Today she is a training specialist with Bloomin’ Brands in Tampa, FL. With restaurant operations being a part of her career and a hobby, Annie is an avid foodie. She also is passionate about her community and giving back through various organizations. She is actively involved in the Junior League of Tampa and Feeding Tampa Bay.

 

Donna Porter ’78

Donna Porter ’78, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in criminology. After graduating, she kicked off her career working for Busch Gardens, where she dedicated 37 years of service in the park security department. Though retired, Donna continues to play an active role in her community through volunteer activities.

 

Jason Remmel ’04

Jason Remmel ’04 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and marketing and is an award-winning sales executive and regional trainer in the medical tech industry. Jason currently resides in Jacksonville, FL. He is newly married and has two beautiful daughters, ages ten and thirteen, along with a dog and cat, who complete their perfectly blended family. When not working, his interests include coaching his daughter’s soccer team, philanthropy, hunting, concerts/sporting events, restaurant dining, fitness, and traveling the world. Puerto Rico has become the Remmel family’s second home!

 

Julie Jenkins ’84

Julie Jenkins ’84 earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Saint Leo University and has worked in many national and international corporations for the past 30 years. Today she serves as the development director for HEAVENDROPt, an organization that employs veterans and individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. She also supports the work of small businesses, having been involved in her husband’s marketing firm, Grapple Hook Marketing. Julie also is committed to her community and is active in her neighborhood and causes that invest in the education and well-being of children.

 

Fr. Jonathan Zingales ’71

Jonathan Zingales ’71, graduated from Saint Leo College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. His commitment to Saint Leo was bestowed upon him at graduation in the conferring of the Outstanding Student of the College Award. A priest for 46 years, Father Zingales credits Saint Leo College for allowing him to examine his life in a deeply spiritual and academic manner.

James Paul (J. Paul) Schellenberg

Class of 2023

James Paul Schellenberg, or J. Paul for short, is a junior pursuing a bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in accounting. Schellenberg considers Saint Leo University his home away from home, as he continues to pursue his Catholic identity and become involved in several activities on campus. Schellenberg is happy to serve as a student representative on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
